As an IBM Platinum Partner, we offer many IBM solutions for Z systems.

IBM differentiates between three types of software licensing:

  • Monthly License Charge software (or MLC software) covers software products that generate monthly costs and are billed on a consumption basis (MSU-oriented). The operating systems z/OS and z/VSE are examples of this. These can only be purchased via IBM.
  • One-Time Charge products (OTC), also known as IPLA products, are licensed once, with maintenance services like subscription and support purchased additionally every year. These include middleware tools and extensions to the operating systems. Here too, the price of the license is based on an assumed or estimated maximum consumption (VU). You can purchase these products through SVA.
  • In addition, there are a number of z products that can be purchased via a passport advantage contract. SVA sells these products as well.

Licensing models

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the licensing models, and can help you select the right contract for your application. We also offer professional consulting services on topics like BaU (business as usual), ESSO (enterprise software and service option), containers and Tailored Fit Pricing.

We offer all IBM software on a needs basis only. Once we understand the client’s needs, our independence allows us to offer the corresponding solution.

ISV software augments the portfolio of mainframe software. As one of the largest mainframe service providers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, SVA maintains long-standing collaborations with leading independent software vendors (ISVs). From Beta Systems and Syncsort to BMC and limes datentechnik, we can provide expert advice here.
